Open Season: Chautauqua Institution Kicks Off 135th Year

Scheduled to speak during the first week are Frank Deford, senior writer for Sports Illustrated; Clark Kellogg, CBS Sports college basketball commentator; Sean McManus, president CBS News and CBS Sports; and Roger Goodell, area resident and National Football League Commissioner.

According to Chautauqua Institution’s Web site, www.ciweb.org, the week will examine the impact of sports on culture and economics. Speakers and other guests will also look at other factors in sports, including the influence of television and escalating salaries.
