Frances Cole (obituary)


Frances Marie Scalise Cole, age 81, formerly of Hammond Street, Warren, passed into Heaven on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center, following hip surgery.

Frances was the daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Scalise of Warren, PA.

Frances Scalise married Francis John Cole in 1949, in Warren, PA. Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 1990.

Frances and her husband owned Warren Steel Company. Frances worked in some coffee shops in Warren and also worked as a nurse’s aid at Warren General Hospital. Her last job was an associate in the woman’s department at Bon Ton in the Warren Mall.

She was a member of The First Church of God and was very active there.

Frances loved to play cards, was an excellent knitter, and enjoyed her girlfriend’s company. She loved to spoil and spend time with her four grandchildren, Jayna ColeSpigelmeyer, husband, Carl, Amanda Farr, husband, Joe, Abigail Mouyard, and Benjamin Mouyard, wife, Erica.

Frances was diagnosed with Picks Disease in 1995 and moved to Springhill Apartments in Erie and then to Forestview Skilled Nursing in 1997.

Everyone loved Frances at Forestview and she won the hearts of so many there.

She is survived by her three children, Susan Kovacs of Pittsburgh, husband, Darryl, Lee Cole of Warren, wife, Maria, and Terri Mouyard, husband, Francis, of Erie. Three of her siblings still survive, Richard Scalise (Alice), Jim Scalise (Grace), and Mamie Spear. She is survived by six greatgrandchildren, Caden, Gracyn, and Addisyn Farr and Lucas, Adam, and Elizabeth Mouyard. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Peterson-Blick Funeral Home and viewing is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20th and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21st, preceding a short service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to any Alzheimer’s Association or charity of ones’ choice.
